What We Do
We Support Service Men/Women
Like all American Legion chapters our programs involve supporting our veteran members’ and their families’ needs. We maintain a community center with recreational grounds where veterans, policemen and other fraternal organizations sustain our mutual community connections.
We Meet and Organize
The Post 1600 Meeting Hall is open 7 days a week for the benefit of our members, members of related not-for-profit organizations and guests to meet, organize, educate and socialize with one another in addition to the many regularly scheduled meetings of our membership and executive officers, and those of related organizations.

- Post 1600 holds a member meeting the third Tuesday of every month;
- Post 1600 Ladies Auxiliary meets the third Tuesday of every month;
- Vietnam Veterans of America No 333 meets the first Thursday of every month and holds their big pig roast get together the first week of every June;
- Rockland County Hispanic Law Enforcement meets the third Thursday of every month and has their annual party on the grounds in July;
- Rockland County Marine Corp meetings are on the fourth Tuesday of every month;
- Hudson Valley 10-13 Association Inc. for retired NYPD officers meets the second Thursday of the month;
- Military Order of the Purple Heart meets the third Saturday every month;
- Disabled American Veterans (DAV Post 98)– meets the second Thursday of every month (in the second meeting room);
- Rockland County Coordinating Council meets the first Wednesday of the month – where all veteran organizations meet to coordinate on issues;
- Therapy Dogs of Rockland holds their dog training and evaluation meetings monthly on Saturdays or Sundays;
In addition to monthly meetings, many of our brother organizations meet informally and there are groups in attendance at the meeting hall every weeknights from 3pm to closing; and, Post 1600 maintains a shooting range on the grounds used by Post 1600 members and related above organizations listed above throughout the year.
We Socialize
In additional to our weekly Friday night meals throughout the year, and our famous summer picnics and turkey/bacon shoot events, Members can come any day or night to enjoy the barroom and informal social gatherings.
Come for a beer, come to watch sports on our flat screen tvs, or play table or card games with friends. Socializing is one of best ways in which veterans maintain mental health and community connections.

We Rent Out the Meeting Hall for Private Parties
In addition to the Post 1600 Meeting Hall and grounds being used on a nightly basis Monday through Friday for regularly scheduled meetings and dinners, the hall and grounds are rented out throughout the year for fundraisers and family gatherings to members and their families, and other non profit organizations.

If you are a member, a member of a fraternal organization or local non profit please Contact Us for details on renting our meeting hall and grounds.

“Park Like Setting”
Really nice building, very well maintained. Excellent location for our event, close to exit 12 on Palisades Pkwy, right next to Boulders Stadium, but set back in a park like setting.
